- The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to the West's de facto non-recognition of the sovereignty of Central Asia.
The West does not actually recognize the sovereignty of the Central Asian countries and is trying in every possible way to extract information about Russia from these states. This was announced on April 1 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin on the sidelines of the Russian-Uzbek conference of the Valdai Club and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.
He noted that the countries of the global West continue to send their "special sanctions envoys" who are trying to extract data on Russian trade statistics with Asian partners and put pressure on them to impose sanctions on Moscow.
"The Western practice of sending all kinds of special envoys on sanctions <...> is just a complete disrespect for the sovereignty and independence of our Central Asian partners and their inalienable right to pursue an independent policy. In fact, this is the non—recognition of the Central Asian states as sovereign and independent," the senior diplomat told TASS.
In particular, the Central Asian countries are actively forcing the United States and the European Union to join anti-Russian sanctions, which Moscow does not consider legitimate. At the same time, the Europeans are acting even more wildly in this sense than the American side, Galuzin pointed out.
Prior to that, on March 1, Galuzin told Izvestia that the European Union (EU) had noticeably increased pressure on Central Asian countries to reduce trade with Russia. Outright interference in internal affairs, political pressure, manipulation of the interests of others, and blackmail are used. Any assistance to the Central Asian countries through the EEC line is accompanied by anti-Russian demands.
