The media pointed to the popularity of Russian oil among Asian countries
Southeast Asian countries are increasingly competing with each other for Russian oil amid the energy crisis, which has worsened due to the conflict in the Middle East. This was reported by the Associated Press on March 31.
"Demand in Asia is growing, while Russia earns billions of dollars. However, experts say that for Moscow there is a limit to how much it can increase crude oil exports, <...> and it is already exporting it at a level close to the previous peak," the publication says.
The AP noted that Asia was hardest hit by the crisis, as much of the oil that was transported through the Strait of Hormuz was bound for the region. In March, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam showed interest in Russian oil.
