RIA Novosti: AN-26 crashed into a rock in Crimea

An AN-26 military transport plane that disappeared over Crimea crashed into a cliff. This was reported by RIA Novosti on April 1, citing a source.

"The plane crashed into a rock," said an agency source who was near the scene.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the tragedy could be a technical malfunction.

On March 31, the Ministry of Defense announced that during a scheduled flight over the Crimean peninsula, communication with the AN-26 military transport aircraft was lost. Search and rescue teams were sent to the suspected area of the accident. Later it became known that the aircraft had crashed. 29 people were killed: six crew members and 23 passengers.
