An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was recorded in the eastern part of Honshu Island in Japan. This was reported on April 1 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
According to seismologists, the epicenter of the tremors was located 18 km north of the city of Noda, where about 121 thousand people live. The earthquake was located at a depth of 56 km.
There was no information about casualties or damage. No tsunami threat has been announced.
