The UK took control of the investigation into the fire at the plant in Tatarstan.
The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has put under control the investigation of the incident at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant in Tatarstan. This was announced on March 31 by the press service of the department in the Telegram channel.
"The progress of the criminal investigation into the incident at the enterprise in the Republic of Tatarstan has been monitored at the central office of the Investigative Committee of Russia," the department said.
An investigation is being conducted into the incident on the grounds of a crime under Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities").
Earlier in the day, SIBUR's press service in Nizhnekamsk reported that the cause of the fire at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim plant was an explosion of a gas mixture. On the same day, it was reported that the fire at the chemical plant in Nizhnekamsk was localized.
The press service of the organization reported that two people were killed and 72 injured as a result of the incident. As a result of the incident, 68 people sought medical help.
