The construction of the Bolshoy Smolensky Bridge in St. Petersburg is ahead of schedule, and construction of another bridge across the Neva River is planned in the summer. This was announced on March 31 by the governor of the city, Alexander Beglov.

"You said, don't forget to build a drawbridge. And now, as part of the latitudinal highway, in the summer, builders will begin the second drawbridge across the Neva River, on your instructions. I would like to inform you that your assignment for the construction of a drawbridge across the Bolshoy Smolensky Neva River is successfully underway. Builders are ahead of schedule. I think that in the coming years we will delight our residents with two drawbridges," Beglov said.
