In 2025, Gazprom Neft environmentalists planted over 2.5 million coniferous seedlings in Eastern and Western Siberia. This was announced on Tuesday, March 31, by the company's press service. The annual environmental program covered the Irkutsk, Tomsk and Tyumen regions, as well as the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

To restore the northern forests, ecologists chose pine and spruce seedlings grown from seeds harvested in similar climatic zones. Specialists intend to monitor the condition of the plants for three years to ensure a high survival rate of young trees to harsh climatic conditions.

The reforestation is carried out within the framework of the Green Environment project of the Hometowns social investment program. The partner of the initiative is the All-Russian Center for expertise in the field of forestry Roslesinforg.

The company annually conducts large-scale programs to study biodiversity in its regions of operation. We not only explore nature and implement solutions that ensure environmentally friendly production, but also contribute to the conservation and restoration of Russian forests," said Maxim Ovsyannikov, CEO of Gazpromneft—Razvitiya. He added that 750 hectares of territories have already been prepared for reforestation in Eastern Siberia in 2026.

Roslesinforg noted the importance of a systematic approach to the multiplication of coniferous forests in the country. "Thanks to cooperation with the Gazprom Neft team, we were able to apply the best practices of Roslesinforg to preserve the nature of the northern regions. A responsible approach to the implementation of such a large—scale program has allowed us to make a significant contribution to the restoration and enhancement of coniferous forests in Russia," said Nikolai Goroshansky, Deputy Director of Roslesinforg.
