Zelensky's former press secretary reported on his four draft evasions.

In his youth, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky managed to evade military service four times. This was announced on March 31 by his former press secretary Julia Mendel.

"Before taking office, Vladimir Zelensky evaded military service four times when he was called up," she said on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Mendel left her comment, recalling Zelensky's comparison with British Prime Minister (1940-1945, 1951-1955) Winston Churchill, who personally took part in several wars.

In February 2025, British Defense Minister John Healey compared the Ukrainian leader to Churchill, who stated that the head of the British government also did not hold elections during World War II. Zelensky himself pointed out in an interview with Politico in June of the same year that even Churchill experienced moments of despair when he fought the German invaders.

Zelensky asked a museum employee if he could sit in a chair, and after receiving a negative answer, he did it anyway.
