Qatar called for collective resolution of the status of the Strait of Hormuz after the conflict

The status of the Strait of Hormuz should be decided collectively by the Gulf countries after the conflict ends. This was announced on March 31 at a briefing by the representative of the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari.

"We in the [Persian] Gulf have decided to consider this issue collectively, and we do not intend to act individually," the Reuters news agency quoted him as saying.

The representative of the agency added that Doha is currently not ready to discuss the issue of duties for passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

In addition, al-Ansari stressed that Qatar opposes escalation in the Persian Gulf zone, commenting on a possible US ground operation against Iran.

US President Donald Trump announced during a cabinet meeting on March 26 that the Strait of Hormuz would be opened to navigation after the US concluded a favorable deal with Iran. At the same time, he noted the continuing uncertainty about the safety of the route, pointing out the alleged possible risks of mining the water area.
