The Iranian authorities will exempt Malaysia's merchant vessels from paying for passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which currently remains almost completely blocked. This was announced on March 31 by the head of the Malaysian Ministry of Transport, Anthony Loke Sieu Fook.

"We are a friendly country and maintain good diplomatic relations with the government of Iran," Bloomberg quoted the minister as saying.

According to him, the fee for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz will not apply to ships from the Asian state.
