In large cities, air quality deteriorates in spring due to a combination of pollen and pollutants, which increases the burden on the body. Mikhail Goncharov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Greenlife Factory, informed Izvestia about this on March 31.

"During the flowering period, a complex mixture of irritants is formed: fine dust, exhaust gases, nitrogen oxides and ground-level ozone are added to allergens. This combination increases the effect on the respiratory system and increases the risk of exacerbation of allergic reactions," the expert explained.

Goncharov noted that the urban environment directly affects the severity of symptoms. Pollutants not only irritate the mucous membranes themselves, but also make the body more sensitive to pollen. As a result, even moderate blooms in megacities are more difficult to tolerate than in regions with cleaner air.

The new drug will be designed for people over the age of 18 and will reduce therapy to two seasons.

The expert also pointed out that the increase in the number of allergic diseases can serve as an indirect indicator of the state of the environment. In regions with high anthropogenic load, such cases are recorded more often, which indicates the influence of environmental factors along with lifestyle and genetics.

In his opinion, it is possible to reduce the load on the body only with an integrated approach. In addition to individual protection measures, systemic solutions are needed — reducing emissions from transport and industry, controlling dust pollution, and developing air monitoring. This will reduce the severity of seasonal allergies and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

Earlier, on March 18, doctor Vera Serezhina told Izvestia that the flowering season for patients with asthma often becomes a time of exacerbations, especially if other triggers are added to pollen allergies. In spring, asthma often worsens in people with allergies to pollen and fungal allergens.
