If agencies offer exclusive contracts with requirements to keep everything secret, this may be a signal of manipulation. Lilia Pasko, director of the Fashion Management modeling agency, told Izvestia about this on April 1.

According to her, many agencies try to convince models that advice and interference from loved ones will hinder their careers, and any discussion of the proposal can lead to a missed opportunity. In fact, relatives often provide the necessary support and can help the model choose the right decision. Reliable agencies will always support the model in discussing the terms.

She noted that the key marker is a request to keep everything a secret. When the model is left alone with the proposal, this is done for the purpose of manipulation. If the project is really professional, it has nothing to hide. The conditions should be transparent, and all issues should be easily explained.

"If the model is not yet 21 years old, we strongly recommend the presence of parents at the casting, at the first meeting, as well as at a meeting to discuss the project or the terms of the contract. This helps to avoid misunderstandings, discuss all important issues and carefully read the documents. In such situations, parents can provide the model with the necessary legal support and help her make a well—considered decision," concluded Pasko.
