There is no need to switch to a six-day working week in Russia, as there is no economic feasibility of such a measure. This was announced on March 31 by State Duma Deputy Vitaly Milonov.

"This approach is more likely to generate serious discontent among people rather than help the economy," he said in an interview with RT.

The deputy compared attempts to artificially prolong working hours with plantations of the XVIII century and called the idea of introducing a six-day period strange. Instead of increasing working hours, Milonov called for focusing efforts on the fight to increase labor productivity.

On the same day, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education Gennady Onishchenko expressed support for the initiative to switch part of the Russian real sector to an enhanced work schedule. According to the expert, mining and processing enterprises, as well as industries that create material benefits, could switch to an intensive schedule in the first place.
