Scammers began to offer "services" for expedited obtaining of a foreign passport

Phone scammers have begun offering potential victims services to obtain an expedited passport, subject to full prepayment. This was reported on March 31 in the press service of the Prosecutor's office of the Moscow region.

"The attackers began to offer services for the expedited receipt of a foreign passport," the department's Telegram channel says.

According to the supervisory authority, the criminals promise to issue the document within three days without waiting in line and guarantee assistance in obtaining a visa to any country in the world. To do this, they request scanned copies of their national passport, SNILS, INN and other documents from citizens.

To ensure security, the prosecutor's office recommends that foreign passports be issued exclusively through official channels: multifunctional centers (MFC), departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the Gosuslugi portal. Citizens were urged to categorically avoid transferring digital copies of documents to strangers and to exercise caution when receiving any requests for money transfers.

On the same day, the Department for Combating the Illegal use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that to ensure user safety, it is recommended to download applications only from official stores, not follow links in messengers or offers to install APK files from third-party sites. The agency also noted that a high rating in a store does not always guarantee safety, as reviews can be inflated.
