Forest fire season started in Buryatia

The first forest fires were recorded in Buryatia. Since the beginning of 2026, there have been seven cases of dry vegetation catching fire. The fire covered 52 hectares.

A special fire protection regime has been introduced in most regions of the republic since April 1. It is forbidden to use open fire during it, including in forests, writes IA UlanMedia.

The number of landscape fires in Ulan-Ude is growing every year. If in 2024 there were 150 of them, then in 2025 there were already 211, which is 41% more. The total area covered by the fire last year exceeded 161.5 hectares, almost twice as much as a year earlier.

The republican government has offered a reward of 10,000 rubles for information about the perpetrators of wildfires.

Earlier, on March 29, it was reported that a fire source located in the Zakamensk district had been eliminated in Buryatia. The fire area was 21 hectares. In addition, on the same day, two uncontrolled falls of dry grass were extinguished in Ulan-Ude and in the Ivolginsky district. The total area of the fires was about 10 hectares.
