A patient was admitted to a hospital in the Moscow region, who was suspected of contracting smallpox in monkeys, as well as a person who came into contact with him. This was announced on March 31 by the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Moscow region.

"During the epidemiological investigation, work is underway to identify contact persons and conduct an examination. The biomaterial was collected for research. An order has been issued for disinfection," the Telegram message of Rospotrebnadzor says.

Both of those hospitalized are currently under medical supervision. The departments announced the continuation of the epidemiological investigation, the situation is under control. Modern high-tech test systems have been developed and registered for the diagnosis of monkey pox, which make it possible to detect the virus as soon as possible, the Rospotrebnadzor said.

Also on March 24, it was reported that the situation with a monkey pox case in St. Petersburg is under strict control of Rospotrebnadzor. The agency established a circle of contact persons, organized medical supervision, and carried out disinfection measures.
