- The Interior Ministry announced six ways to protect against fraudulent mobile applications
To ensure user safety, it is recommended to download applications only from official stores, not follow the links in messengers or offers to install APK files from third-party sites. This was announced on March 31 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
"If the program is offered to be installed "urgently" or bypassing the official store, it is better to refuse such an installation," the Telegram channel says.
Before installing, you need to check the developer. A conscientious software creator usually has a website, work contacts, and a history of other projects. An important signal of forgery can be errors in the name, poor-quality screenshots and a strange translation.
The Interior Ministry also emphasizes that a high rating in a store does not always guarantee safety, as reviews can be inflated. Before downloading, it is better to check the information about the program yourself by searching for the words "fraud" or "phishing".
Special attention should be paid to the permissions that the service requests. If simple games or calculators ask for access to SMS, calls, admin functions, or accessibility services, this is a typical sign of fraud.
On the same day, Senator Artyom Sheikin warned that scammers had developed and implemented a new scheme to deceive gamers, forcing them to install malware allegedly to receive unique bonuses in computer games. A Trojan virus is hidden under the guise of the modifications proposed for installation. After infecting the device, attackers gain access to notifications, SMS messages and, in some cases, to bank applications.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
