Russian gymnasts won four medals at the World Cup in Bulgaria
The stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Bulgaria ended with great success for our country. The Russian groupies, who performed in a neutral status, won three medals. They became the best in the all-around and won gold in the final with three hoops and two pairs of maces. In addition, they also have silver in the final with five goals. The coach of the champions is Maria Tolkacheva. The head coach of our national team summed up the results of the start.
"We liked the tournament, first of all, we liked the results. They did great, they withstood a lot of stress, including emotional stress, and performed very, very well," said Tatiana Sergayeva, head coach of the Russian national rhythmic gymnastics team.
Our gymnasts performing in individual exercises were among the top 10 best athletes of the World Cup stage in the all-around. They also competed under a neutral flag. Sofia Ilteryakova won silver in the hoop, and finished ninth in the all-around. Sofia is coached by Natalia Glemba. And Arina Kovshova, a pupil of Alina Kabayeva's Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, became the seventh in the individual all-around. Arina's coach is Elizaveta Chernova. The result is very good, considering that it was the first international competition of this level for all our athletes.
We were able to participate in the World Cup stage, albeit in a neutral status, for the first time in four years. More than 50 countries and the best schools in the world competed for places on the podium.
The international rhythmic gymnastics tournament, the Marbella Grand Prix, ended in Spain on March 23. Maria Borisova, a pupil of Alina Kabayeva's Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, won two medals at these competitions, and she is among the leaders of the Russian national team.
