- The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed support for any efforts to mediate in the Middle East.
Russia welcomes efforts to resolve the conflict in the Middle East and considers it important to participate in the process as a mediator. This was announced on March 31 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko following the results of the Russian-Indian inter-ministerial consultations in New Delhi.
"Russia welcomes any efforts to mediate a settlement of the conflict [between the United States and Israel with Iran]," he told TASS.
The diplomat stressed that the most important thing for Russia is for mediation to play its role.
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said on March 29 that the US military bases in the Persian Gulf countries had failed to protect their allies. He also called the proposal of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to help the countries of the Middle East with protection from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) a sham.
Representatives of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the same day reported that the Iranian Military Space Forces (VKS) and Naval Forces (Navy) attacked two US aluminum plants located in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Kingdom of Bahrain. The AMAL and ALBA enterprises, respectively, were under attack.
