A Russian citizen who performs duties above his position at work may require an additional payment from the employer. Alexander Kuznetsov, a lawyer in labor law, told about this on March 31.

"An employee who performs duties above his position may require additional payment," Kuznetsov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The expert also added that if the employer refuses to pay the additional amount, the employee can recover it with the help of the court. In addition, the employee is allowed to initially refuse to perform activities not provided for in the employment contract, without the risk of disciplinary sanctions.

According to the lawyer, if an employee performs additional tasks without an order from his superiors, then there is no additional payment in such cases.

Ilya Pashchenko, a member of the Russian Bar Association, said on March 26 that employers have the legal right to ban eating and drinking tea directly at the workplace, as well as to impose sanctions on violators. The lawyer explained that although the Labor Code does not explicitly prohibit eating at the workplace, Article 108 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation only guarantees the right to a break, without specifying a specific location for this.
