The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation of the Vostok group of forces shared the details of the liberation of Lugovsky

Russian servicemen of the 1198th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 35th Army of the Vostok group of forces shared the details of the liberation of the Lugovskoye settlement in the Zaporizhia region. This was announced on March 31 by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

It is clarified that during active hostilities, fighters took control of an area of more than 7 square kilometers, where they hacked into the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and liberated the settlement. As a result of the operation, more than two platoons of Ukrainian military personnel were destroyed, as well as over 150 buildings and fortified positions were cleared.

"We moved out early in the morning. <...> We advanced in groups with constant coordination during reconnaissance with UAVs [Unmanned aerial vehicles]. Already in Lugovskoye itself, it was discovered that the enemy had equipped a fortified network of tunnels under the destroyed houses. On the approaches to the first stronghold, machine-gun and mortar fire opened on us, and enemy FPV drones flew. Coherence helped out: while one group is diverting fire on itself, others are bypassing and hitting from the flanks," said the squad commander with the call sign Tourist.

According to the squad commander with the call sign Sergeant, the Russian defenders had to move from house to house to get to the tunnel and the firing cells of the Ukrainian soldiers. These cells, which served as strongholds of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, were eliminated one by one during the sweep.

The liberation of Lugovoi made it possible to significantly improve the tactical position of the units of the Vostok group of forces in this area. The capture of this line created the conditions for further northward movement in order to cover the Ukrainian positions in the Charivne area.

The liberation of the settlements of Novoosinovo in the Kharkiv region and Lugovskoye in the Zaporizhia region became known from the Ministry of Defense the day before. In the area of the Vostok group, formations of the assault, three airborne assault brigades, five assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the air defense brigade were defeated in the areas of Velikomikhailovka, Pokrovsky, Dobropasov, Bogodarovka, Pisantsev, Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as Dolinka, Voskresenka, Zorevka, Vozdvizhevka, Maryanovka and Lyubitsky, Zaporizhia region.
