The Ministry of Health has approved the updated standard of medical care for children with salmonellosis

The Russian Ministry of Health has approved a new standard for providing medical care to children with salmonellosis, according to a department document published on its website on March 30.

Salmonellosis is a common infection caused by various serotypes of bacteria of the genus Salmonella. The main sources of infection are farm animals and poultry. The disease is most dangerous for young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems.

According to the order, the average duration of salmonellosis treatment in children is 48 days, while medical care can be provided both on an outpatient basis and in a hospital.

It is noted that the diagnosis of the disease will be carried out by an infectious disease specialist and a general practitioner. Among the instrumental methods, comprehensive ultrasound of the abdominal organs and an electrocardiogram are provided.
