The expert spoke about the difficulties of employing mothers after maternity leave
About 25% of women on parental leave consider joining a new company without returning to their previous employer. Such data indicate high mobility in the labor market, however, in reality, the vast majority of mothers prefer not to take risks, while the rest face an increase in the search time for a job by 20-40%. The press service told Izvestia about this. hh.ru .
According to statistics provided by the press service hh.ru Despite the high level of job change requests, the actual behavior of female candidates remains cautious. More than 76% of women decide to return to their previous employer after completing their maternity leave.
"There is still a certain level of discrimination on this basis in the labor market, which is of a hidden nature. Nevertheless, according to our observations, the demand for qualified specialists remains high," the press service comments. hh.ru .
Stanislav Tarakanov, General Director of the President Recruitment Center, explains that the terms of employment for this category of applicants are objectively increasing. According to the expert, the job search process is delayed by about 20-40% compared to candidates who do not have a long break in seniority and restrictions related to the birth of a child.
The difficulty of entering a new place, as Tarakanov notes, directly depends on the format of employment.
"If this is a classic office role with a tight schedule, then the competition is higher, and the employer, as a rule, chooses the one who is most available on time. Where results are important rather than presence — remote work, project work, part—time employment - the situation for young mothers is much better. The employer is ready to negotiate in these formats," Tarakanov notes.
The demand for flexible work formats is also confirmed by the dynamics of the part-time job market. By the end of 2025, as Sergey Yaskin, director of the Avito Part-time employment service, told Izvestia, the number of offers available, including to mothers on maternity leave, increased by 25% in Russia as a whole. The average salary offered for such vacancies was about 22,048 rubles per month.
The largest increase in the number of offers was recorded in the field of marketing, advertising and PR, where the dynamics of offers reached 84%. The remote format and flexible schedule allow women to combine professional activities with child care, remaining in demand in the profession or exploring new directions without the need to immediately enter full-time work.
