Withdrawing cash from a credit card can result in additional fees and an increase in the debt burden, since banks consider such operations as a separate type of loan. On March 30, Ahmed Yusupov, an economist and partner at the Goldman Energy communications agency, told Izvestia.

"The bank perceives cashing out a credit card as issuing a loan in cash, therefore, a commission is almost always charged — from 3% to 11% of the amount, and the grace period is not valid," the expert noted.

According to Yusupov, cash withdrawal fees are often supplemented by a fixed fee, and interest begins to accrue from the first day. At the same time, the total cost of credit card loans reached 50.1% at the end of 2025, an increase of 17.5 percentage points over the year.

The expert stressed that one of the main dangers remains the effect of "easy money". The ability to quickly get cash provokes borrowers to increase expenses and use multiple cards at once, which imperceptibly increases the debt burden. As a result, even minimal payments can lead to significant monthly overpayments.

Yusupov also drew attention to the increased control by banks and tax authorities. According to him, regular money transfer operations can be regarded as signs of hidden business activity, which threatens to block the account.

The expert recommends avoiding cash withdrawals from credit cards whenever possible. If such a need arises, you should choose products with a free withdrawal limit and strictly follow the repayment schedule to avoid deterioration of your credit history.

On February 24, economist Olga Gogaladze reported that using credit cards with a limit of 30 to 50 thousand rubles is fraught with large debts, despite the imaginary security and the availability of a grace period. According to her, a small limit is perceived as a "non-terrible debt" that is easy to close with a salary. As a result, a person starts using a credit card for everyday expenses: groceries, marketplaces, taxis, subscriptions.
