It is planned to switch to small-scale assembly of UMO electric vehicles with welding and painting at the Moskvich plant in 2027. Ilya Rashkin, the founder and CEO of EM Rus, told TASS about this on March 30.

According to Rashkin, small-scale assembly involves the installation of robots for body welding at the Moskvich plant. The body will be painted in the same place, and the assembly will take place on the territory of the plant with the replacement of parts with Russian ones.

So, EM Rus is going to localize the telematics and navigation unit, battery, ABS and other components of the electric vehicle. By 2027, it is planned to integrate a fully Russian-developed battery into the UMO 5 electric car jointly with Renera (part of Rosatom). Rashkin clarified that Chinese lithium-iron-phosphate batteries are currently being installed on the UMO 5 model.

The start of the assembly of new electric and hybrid cars under the UMO brand at the Moskvich plant became known on February 20. The UMO 5 electric car is a "clone" of the Chinese GAC Aion Y Plus. It is equipped with a 204 hp engine, and the maximum range on a single charge varies from 300 to 400 km.

On March 24, it was reported that the UNO 5 electric car was included in the list of domestically produced cars that fall under the parameters of the taxi localization law.
