Patrushev recommended to increase teachers' salaries from 2027
The Ministry of Education and the regions of Russia should increase salaries for teachers starting in 2027. This was announced on March 30 by Nikolai Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Maritime Board.
"I ask the Ministry of Education of Russia, together with the heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, to work out the possibility of increasing teachers' salaries starting in 2027, as well as to work out the issue of its outstripping growth relative to other subject teachers for teachers of mathematics, physics and chemistry," he said at a meeting on improving the quality of mathematical and natural science education.
Patrushev noted that the poor quality of education of schoolchildren in the field of mathematics and natural sciences is due to the lack of specialized teachers in these subjects. In some regions, the presidential aide pointed out, the deficit reaches 10-20%. The main reason remains the low salary of teachers, but it is planned to increase it only in 2028.
The head of the Maritime Board added that these issues had already been discussed. Work is underway to resolve the issues, he concluded.
On February 2, the Russian government, together with employers and trade unions, recommended setting the salary of education workers at 70% of the total salary. For specialists already working in the education system, it is proposed to revise the salary structure taking into account these parameters.
