The expert stated that the role of generations in the labor market is decreasing
The division of employees by age group is losing relevance and does not reflect the real situation on the labor market. On March 31, Yulia Ablets, a media expert, founder of the Workshop of New Media and deputy director of Dialog Regions, told Izvestia about this.
"Among the zoomers, you can find conscious careerists, and boomers are quite capable of giving up a high position for personal comfort," she said.
According to the expert, dividing employees solely by age groups does not give a complete picture. A more useful approach is based on the distinction between "young" and "adult" specialists. The former are more likely to take risks and need mentoring, while more experienced employees act more consciously and independently.
Ablec stressed that the company's internal culture plays an important role. It can vary significantly in different fields, from manufacturing corporations to creative agencies, but in any case, transparency of the rules of interaction remains a key factor. Mismatch of expectations in communication can lead to disruptions in work.
The expert also noted that the universal skills necessary for professional development come to the fore. These include the ability to work with technology and data, empathy, consistency, willingness to learn, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and present results.
"The modern labor market is becoming more flexible, and the traditional change of professional path in 30 or 40 years no longer surprises anyone. And the "one career for a lifetime" paradigm is increasingly losing relevance and is being replaced by several parallel ones, which gives greater stability and more opportunities for development," concluded Ablets.
Head of the K.N. Gusov Department of Labor Law and Social Security Law at O.E. Kutafin University (MGUA) Nadezhda Chernykh announced on March 17 that the employer is obliged to raise salaries for employees, but the procedure and timing of indexation are determined internally. According to her, salary indexation takes into account consumer prices for goods and services.
