Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (GBR) detained a colonel of the National Guard during the purchase of forged documents confirming his disability. This was reported by the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper on March 30.

"According to the investigation, the official offered a member of the expert team for assessing daily functioning a bribe of $ 6 thousand for registration of disability group II with subsequent discharge from military service. At the same time, the law enforcement officer did not have any real illnesses to register such a disability group," the publication cites the message of the GBR.

It is noted that despite the medical worker's refusal of a bribe due to the fact that the suspect had no grounds for disability, the officer nevertheless tried to transfer half of the agreed amount to him, after which he was detained.

On February 17, the GBR filed charges of illegal enrichment and legalization of property against the former deputy head of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, an analogue of the military enlistment office in Ukraine) in Odessa. During 2020-2022, the official acquired assets totaling more than 37.7 million hryvnias. His official income did not allow him to make such purchases.
