An electronic barrier will be built in Poland on the border with Ukraine
On the eastern border of Poland with Ukraine, it is planned to erect an electronic barrier with a system of underground, fiber-optic and power cables, as well as round-the-clock monitoring of the territory. This was announced on March 30 by the Polish radio station RMF FM.
"The barrier is aimed at increasing national security and effectively preventing illegal border crossings. The investment, estimated at about 450 million zlotys ($120 million), will affect part of the border unit on the Bug River. The selection process for the contractor has just begun," the article says.
All data from the system will be transmitted directly to the monitoring center at the branch headquarters, where they will be analyzed by border guards.
RFM FM noted that the situation on the eastern border of Poland is dynamic, and the activities of criminal gangs and increased acts of sabotage in the country require decisive preventive measures.
On March 26, a representative of the Polish police said that refugees from Ukraine often become victims of fraudulent crimes committed by their fellow citizens in Poland. According to him, deception schemes can be very different, but the most common are fictitious rental housing, paid paperwork, money transfers and pyramid schemes.
On December 28, 2025, the US Department of Homeland Security announced that migrants from Ukraine ranked first in the "Worst of the Worst" anti—rating among criminals from former Soviet countries. 27 citizens of Ukraine were entered into the database. The crimes they are accused of include drug trafficking, fraud, robbery, enslavement and the slave trade, as well as sexual crimes, including against children.
