The court sentenced General Kuvshinov to 7.5 years in prison for embezzlement
The Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow sentenced the former head of the 9th medical and diagnostic center of the Ministry of Defense, General Konstantin Kuvshinov, to 7.5 years in prison in the case of embezzlement of funds for the supply of medical equipment. This was announced on March 30 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
In addition to imprisonment, Kuvshinov was fined 2.4 million rubles. The court also decided to recover from him the damage caused to the state in the amount of 56.5 million rubles.
According to the verdict, Kuvshinov was stripped of the rank of Major General and the Order of Alexander Nevsky. After the announcement of the decision, he was taken into custody.
On August 26, 2025, Kuvshinov was arrested on charges of embezzlement of more than 57 million rubles, which were allocated for the purchase of medical equipment.
According to the investigation, in 2022, the military medical organization signed a contract with Delrus and TDA-Service companies for the purchase and further supply of equipment totaling about 100 million rubles. However, Kuvshinov, acting in collusion with representatives of the companies, significantly inflated prices, which allowed him to steal about 57 million rubles.
Kuvshinov pleaded guilty in the case of embezzlement. In addition, at a court hearing on March 27, the ex-general apologized to the Russian Defense Ministry. He said that before making his confession, he turned to his confessor and repented. According to him, this is what prompted him to turn himself in.
