The air defense team destroyed an APU UAV flying to the rear area of the Kherson region

A mobile air defense team of the anti-aircraft missile regiment of the 18th Combined arms Army from the Dnepr group of forces destroyed an aircraft-type attack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which was flying towards the rear area of the Russian units in the Kherson region. This was announced on March 30 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

It is specified that the enemy target was hit with the help of the Yelka interceptor drone. The Ukrainian Armed Forces use drones of various types to conduct fire, as well as to bombard civilian infrastructure in the region. Mobile air defense crews armed with "Fir trees" are on duty around the clock and identify enemy air targets.

"She (the Christmas Tree — Ed.) has an intellectual goal support. It is guided along the contour and before impact it turns on the thermal imaging camera, it is aimed at the engine. It is very easy to use. Literally take off the safety, press the button, aim at the target," said the operator of the interceptor drone with the call sign Rostov.

The ministry clarified that the anti-aircraft crew received a signal about the passage of an enemy drone from colleagues from an air surveillance post. After that, the operator of the "Christmas Tree" shot down the enemy drone with an accurate hit.

It is noted that the "Fir Tree" can reach high speeds of up to 250 km / h, and its flight range reaches 3 km at an altitude of 1.5 to 2 km.

It is specified that the first mortar position was found in the courtyard of one of the abandoned houses in the private sector. She was eliminated by an accurate blow from an FPV drone.
