Now the demand for TV series is growing all over the world, they are produced in such quantities that sometimes you just get lost when choosing, and therefore Medialogia has released the first comprehensive Russian rating of TV series that takes into account a variety of parameters.

"We have created a product that allows us to make a qualitative assessment of TV series based on their popularity in all media and audiences," said Irina Solomatina, director of Medialogia.

The developed algorithm takes into account not only traditional telemetry, but also search engine queries, social media discussions, and the depth of content viewing. Experts have studied more than 1.2 thousand projects, new seasons of which were released during 2025. The study covered both domestic and foreign works, including animation and high-budget game premieres.

"Medialogy is big data, we track more than 100,000 media outlets and more than 3 billion social media accounts," explained Vladislav Stratonnikov, the company's product development manager.

The rating methodology is based on the so-called consumption funnel, which includes the stages of demand, discussion, and direct viewing. Dmitry Tabarchuk, producer and CEO of NMG Studio, clarified that the key factor is viewer engagement — how much the audience is inclined to move from one episode to another.

The first place in the list was taken by the South Korean horror "The Squid Game". On the second line is the project "Very strange things", which has become one of the most discussed events in the Internet space. The Russian crime detective "Sled" rounded out the top three, recognized as the record holder of the domestic broadcast in terms of the number of episodes.

According to experts, the appearance of such a tool will allow the film industry to get away from working "blindly" and create projects that best meet the needs of the audience. The head of the working group, Evgeny Mironov, emphasized that this assessment format best describes the interaction of a modern user with content.

A new industrial rating has revealed key trends in modern television consumption, according to which domestic TV series hold 60% of the audience's attention.

Among the leaders of Russian production were the projects Sklifosovsky, Mosgaz, Holidays, Children of Change, Old School and Fisher. One of the most notable events of the year was the success of the series "Lilies of the Valley", a story about loyalty and music, which took the sixth place in the rating.

"When we entered the project, we did not think that this was a project about our own, this is a story about life, about love and about faith in the future," said Alexander Kosarim, content director of the Wink video service.

Experts note that the Russian industry has confirmed its independence and originality of content. Nevertheless, experts are calling for a qualitative rethink of approaches to production.

"We do so many things, we do everything, that we need to stop, look around and, in my opinion, start looking at what we produce anew," says producer and screenwriter Vyacheslav Dusmukhametov.

In parallel with the dominance of domestic films, there has been a surge of interest in Turkish projects such as "Cranberry Sherbet", "Distant City" and "Kingfisher". Turkish film star Emre Altug noted a special connection with the Russian audience.

"In fact, I see a lot of attention in my address, a lot of love, it makes me very happy. In the last three months, we have visited Russia several times and held various events. We can say that Russia has become my second homeland," the actor confessed.

In addition to oriental dramas, the audience is interested in adaptations of computer games, including "The Last of Us" and "The Witcher," as well as anime and Korean dramas. Screenwriter and producer Andrey Zolotarev emphasized the importance of the phenomenon of "social viewing", when the choice of content is dictated by the desire to discuss popular novelties in the team.

With the annual launch of hundreds of projects, the industry is focused on the demands of the mass audience, while maintaining the space for experimentation.

"We provide a huge creative space for our creative and production teams, but we must not forget that we make these films not only for the self-realization of creative talents. Of course, we do it for the audience," concluded Anatoly Tupitsyn, executive producer of the REN TV channel.

On March 24, Medialogia presented a Russian series rating consisting of the 100 most popular projects of the past year. The South Korean thriller "The Squid Game" took the first place with 42,861 points, the second place was taken by the American science fiction series "Stranger Things" (26,572 points), and the third place was taken by the Russian detective "Sled" (20,361 points).

Producer Maxim Korolev said that the rating will make it easier for content producers to understand the viewer's request. He also noted the success of the series "Sled", which entered the top 100 most popular series of 2025 and took third place.
