Director Nikita Mikhalkov set a number of conditions for actor Mikhail Efremov to appear on stage after his release from prison. Mikhalkov said this on March 29 in an interview with the news agency Vesti.

The People's Artist of the RSFSR noted that he had achieved the actor's return by taking personal responsibility for his recovery to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I have set the conditions under which I can take responsibility. That he won't be filming anywhere, giving any interviews, acting anywhere, and all the others are taboo, so to speak. He needed to heal up, we did it, he needed to get himself in order there," the director said.

Mikhalkov, at a meeting of the Cultural Council on March 26, expressed gratitude to Putin for Yefremov's return to creative activity after his release from prison. The director also invited the head of state to visit the new production, in which the actor is involved.

On February 13, Yefremov took to the stage for the first time after his release from prison. The actor played in the pre-premiere screening of the play "Without Witnesses" on the stage of the Workshop 12 theater. The first viewers of the production "for moms and dads" were relatives and friends of the artists, as well as representatives of the press.
