The scammers began distributing malicious applications disguised as software for tracking traffic police radars, paying for housing and communal services, and banking applications. This was announced on March 29 by the press service of the Russian Interior Ministry.

"Cases of malicious applications spreading under the guise of a utility for tracking traffic police radars, paying for housing and communal services, and banking applications are being recorded," the TASS news agency reports.

Installing such programs gives fraudsters the opportunity to debit funds, issue microloans and steal personal data, the Interior Ministry said.

On March 28, the Interior Ministry warned that fraudsters were spreading fake P2P transactions for the sale and purchase of cryptocurrencies or goods in messengers in order to steal Russian funds. The Interior Ministry explained that the scammers act as intermediaries. They create fake exchange support chats, fake SMS messages about deposits, or use double accounts to deceive.
