The coach of the Romanian national football team, former head coach of St. Petersburg football club Zenit, Mircea Lucescu, was urgently hospitalized. This was announced on March 29 in the press service of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF).

"During the technical meeting before the last training session before leaving for Slovakia, Lucescu felt unwell. After calling the emergency service, two brigades urgently left for the base," reads a message on the Facebook social network (owned by the Meta organization, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

It is noted that the coach lost consciousness during a technical meeting before training and the subsequent match against the Slovak national team. At the same time, as the newspaper A Bola notes, Lucescu could have survived a short-term cardiac arrest. Currently, his condition is assessed as stable.

In the 2016/17 season, the Romanian specialist led Zenit, with whom he took third place in the Russian championship, informs Sport-Express.

Lucescu was also urgently hospitalized in Romania in January. It was noted that the 80-year-old coach had serious health problems that began at the end of the year after a cold, and then led to heart complications.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
