Russia has not yet decided to join the Peace Council, created on the initiative of US President Donald Trump, because of the war in the Middle East. This was announced on March 29 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"No, there is no such solution. <...> We see that in general, while the war is going on [in the Middle East], the phrase "Peace Council" is probably less relevant now than it was before the start of this war," Peskov said in an interview with TASS.

He noted that it is necessary to wait for the end of the conflict between the United States and Iran in order to see the results and make a decision on joining.

On March 5, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Russia had not received a response from the United States to Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal to send $1 billion of frozen Russian funds to the Peace Council. According to him, Moscow has been reminded of this document several times, but Washington has not responded to it in any way.
