Ukraine is turning Kherson into a military base due to the actions of the country's Armed Forces (AFU) in the region. This was announced on March 29 by the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.

"Kherson is becoming more and more a military zone. There is less normal civilian life there. The communal infrastructure is wearing out, collapsing, and people do not see a full—fledged restoration," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
