The dentist named the reason for the reaction of teeth to cold and hot
Overly diligent brushing of teeth thinns the enamel and leads to an acute reaction to hot and cold. This was announced on March 29 by maxillofacial surgeon and implantologist, founder of the Estetus clinic Sevak Barseghyan.
"The gum area suffers especially [with harsh tooth brushing] — that's where the enamel is thinnest. Over time, it wears off, exposing the dentin. And then even a light puff of cold air causes pain," the doctor warned in an interview with the newspaper.Ru».
Barseghyan noted that improper hygiene can damage the enamel, such as frequent and diligent brushing with a hard brush and coarse whitening toothpaste. At the same time, according to the doctor, the areas adjacent to the gums are at increased risk, since in this place the enamel layer is the thinnest.
The specialist added that in the early stages of the development of this problem, a paste with a high fluoride content will help strengthen the enamel, but if the dental reaction has deeper causes, a doctor's appointment and appropriate treatment may be required.
On March 26, Tamara Kudzieva, chief physician, dentist, therapist and periodontist at Attribute Group, told Izvestia that there were subtle changes in her mouth that could indicate serious health problems. Among the alarming but underestimated signs, the doctor named clicks or crunching in the temporomandibular joint when opening the mouth, morning pain in the jaw, as well as snoring, which may indicate problems with the respiratory tract and the condition of the oral tissues.
