- The Liberal Democratic Party proposed to pay alimony to children with disabilities at the expense of the state
LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky sent a letter to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova with a proposal to pay alimony to disabled children at the expense of the state. Then it is proposed to collect these funds from the debtor. The parliamentarian informed Izvestia about this on March 29.
"One of the most acute social problems in Russia is grieving parents who refuse to help their children financially, avoiding paying alimony. It's especially scary when it comes to families with disabled children. Such families critically need a mechanism to ensure that they receive alimony in the event of a parent's failure to pay it. The State is obliged to do its best to support families with children with disabilities. The Liberal Democratic Party proposes to pay alimony to such children at the expense of the state, followed by mandatory recovery from the debtor," Slutsky said.
To do this, it is necessary to identify a federal body in the Russian Federation or create a special fund through which the calculation and payment of alimony will be carried out, the letter says. Such an initiative will help reduce social tension in the family, the deputy believes.
Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, said on February 26 that 15-20% of violators had paid money after the introduction of the register of child support debtors. She noted that restrictions on debtors, including a ban on traveling abroad and the possibility of seizing a car, had an additional effect.
