The use of smart speakers can threaten their owners with surveillance by fraudsters. This opinion was expressed on March 29 by the Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC) Valery Fadeev.

"The measure is very simple — no need to use smart speakers. What kind of smart speakers? If you want to listen to music, well, take a CD and put it on. <...> Just don't buy speakers," Fadeev advised in an interview with RIA Novosti.
