The Pentagon has begun preparations for a ground operation against Iran that could last several weeks. This was reported on March 28 by The Washington Post (WP) newspaper, citing officials.
"The Pentagon is preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran, <...> as thousands of American soldiers and Marines arrive in the Middle East for what could become a dangerous new phase of the war if President Donald Trump decides to escalate the conflict," the publication says.
