- Flight from Serbia cannot take off from Finland after attempts to land in St. Petersburg
Passengers of the Air Serbia flight departing from Belgrade on March 26 cannot fly to St. Petersburg for the third day while at Helsinki Airport. This was announced on March 28 at the Russian Embassy in Finland.
"The Embassy is closely monitoring the situation around the Air Serbia plane en route to St. Petersburg, which was forced to land in Helsinki. According to available information, the passengers of the flight are currently accommodated in the terminal of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport," the message says.
The plane arrived at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg on March 26, but due to the threat posed by drones, the crew decided to return to Serbia. The next evening, the situation repeated itself, and the flight had to land in Finland to refuel, passenger Konstantin Yakovlev told Izvestia.
He noted that during the subsequent departure attempt, the plane began to shake and turned around. During the technical inspection, malfunctions were found in the engine and landing gear, and therefore the aircraft was sent for repair. Before the work was completed, the passengers were dropped off at the terminal and provided with food.
On the same day, temporary restrictions were imposed on the operation of the airport in Pulkovo. It is specified that these restrictions are necessary for flight safety.
All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
