Iran lowered the age of conscription to 12 years

The minimum age for volunteers willing to support the Iranian army has been lowered to 12 years. This was announced on March 28 by the representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Rahim Nadali.

"Iran sets the age limit for volunteers willing to support the army at 12 and encourages teenagers to participate," Al Arabiya TV quoted Nadali as saying.

The publication notes that such a decision by the Government of the republic contradicts Iran's obligations in accordance with international standards on the non-involvement of children in military operations.

According to the TV channel, the program includes a number of activities such as reconnaissance and operational patrols, logistical support, organization of "heroic convoys", cooking for troops, caring for wounded soldiers and providing assistance to families affected by the fighting.

The decision was made against the background of Washington's statements about a possible significant increase in military escalation if progress is not achieved in the negotiation process.

Earlier in the day, the Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) announced that it was ready to enter into a military conflict on the side of Iran if one of the three conditions was met. The first is the entry of third parties on the side of the United States and Israel, the second is the launching of attacks on Iran by countries in the Red Sea, and the third is an excessive escalation of the conflict.

On the same day, the deputy information minister in the Houthi government, Mohammed Mansour, said that the Ansar Allah movement was ready to join the fighting on the side of Iran if the United States and Israel intensified their attacks.

On March 28, the Ansar Allah movement launched a missile attack on military installations in Israel in support of Iran. This was the first blow from the Yemeni movement since the beginning of the current escalation in the Persian Gulf.
