A man was detained in Paris for attempting to attack an American bank branch.

French police have detained a young man who allegedly tried to set off an improvised explosive device (IED) near a branch of the American bank Bank of America in Paris. This was reported on March 28 by the newspaper Le Parisien.

According to the newspaper, the young man was arrested while trying to set fire to an improvised explosive device with a lighter.

"The device was a five—liter transparent container with an unidentified liquid and a charge consisting of a firecracker containing approximately 650 g of explosive powder," the material says.

The suspect was not alone near the bank, his accomplice managed to escape. The young man stated that unknown people contacted him through the Snapchat application and promised to pay € 600 for completing the task.

The publication claims that the suspect is a minor citizen of Senegal and is already known to the police in drug-related cases.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that a man opened fire and set off an explosion on Architectorskaya Street in Odessa in southern Ukraine. According to local police, no one was injured.
