Al Mayadeen, a journalist who collaborated with Izvestia News Agency, was killed in an Israeli strike

Fatima Ftouni, a correspondent for the Al Mayadeen TV channel who collaborated with Izvestia, was killed in a deliberate Israeli attack on a group of journalists in the Jezzine area of southern Lebanon.

Fatima Ftouni is well known in the region for her on-the-ground reporting at the height of the Middle East conflicts.

In 2025, Izvestia International Media Center in Lebanon signed a cooperation agreement with the Lebanese media network Al Mayadeen, one of the leading media outlets in the Middle East region.

Al Mayadeen correspondent Fatima Ftouni has repeatedly prepared materials for the Izvestia editorial board. Her last story was released on March 27, 2026. Fatima Ftouni, a correspondent for Al Mayadeen TV channel, and her colleague Ali Shuaib, who worked for Al-Manar, were killed on March 28 as a result of an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strike in southern Lebanon. Ftuni had posted a short message on her Telegram channel a few hours earlier about an "enemy raid" seen near the towns of Bint Jubail and Kunin.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the killing of journalists in the south of the country as a result of an Israeli strike. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the journalistic and media community.

In turn, the director of the Middle East information bureau Al Mayadeen, Roni Alpha, called the deceased journalist Fatima Ftouni a heroine.
