Fatima Ftouni, a correspondent for Al Mayadeen TV channel, was killed in a targeted strike by the Israeli military in southern Lebanon on March 28. There were two other journalists in the car with the identification inscription "Press" with her, all of them died.

The tragedy occurred on a highway in the suburb of Jezzine, about 40 km south of Beirut. The driver and three employees of the Lebanese media were in the car. The car completely burned down, no one survived.

"An Israeli aggressive attack aimed at hitting our fellow journalists, which resulted in the death of our colleague, correspondent Fatima Ftouni, in this treacherous Israeli attack," the Al Mayadeen anchor reported live on air, breaking into tremors several times.

Along with Fatima Ftouni, her brother, photojournalist Mohammed Ftouni, and Al-Manar TV reporter Ali Hassan Shahaib died. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a video of the strike, stating that the target was allegedly not a journalist, but a terrorist intelligence officer of the Hezbollah movement, Ali Shahaib. The remaining victims were described as "collateral damage."

Fatima Ftouni worked in southern Lebanon, covering the fighting. On March 2, she announced live that seven people in her family had died as a result of Israeli attacks. Her reports were repeatedly broadcast on Izvestia. At the end of March, she was firing from the area where the Israeli military was trying to establish control over the area up to the Litani River. According to Lebanese media, no international human rights organization condemned the strike.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the killing of journalists in the south of the country as a result of an Israeli strike. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the journalistic and media community.

In turn, the director of the Middle East information bureau Al Mayadeen, Roni Alpha, called the deceased journalist Fatima Ftouni a heroine.
