Former Spartak football player and USSR football champion Yuri Gavrilov underwent heart surgery on March 28.

"I'm in the hospital right now, I've had heart surgery, but I feel fine," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

According to the former athlete of the Moscow club, his continued stay in a medical facility after the operation now depends on doctors.

In 2023, it was reported that Gavrilov had speech problems after suffering a stroke. Gavrilov is a bronze medalist at the 1980 Olympic Games. He also became the USSR champion twice: in 1976 and 1979. Over the years, he played for Dynamo Moscow, Spartak, Lokomotiv and other clubs.
