Lebanese President condemns killing of journalists as a result of Israeli attack
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the killing of journalists in the south of the country as a result of an Israeli strike. This was announced on March 28 in the Office of the President.
"Israeli aggression once again violates the most basic principles of international law, international humanitarian law and the laws of war by attacking journalists, who are ultimately civilians fulfilling their professional duty," the presidential office quoted Aoun as saying on the social network X (former. Twitter).
He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the journalistic and media community. According to him, the Lebanese Government strongly condemns this attack and calls on all international organizations to take measures to stop further escalation.
Fatima Ftouni, a correspondent for Al Mayadeen TV channel, and her colleague Ali Shuaib, who worked for Al-Manar, were killed on March 28 as a result of an Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) strike in southern Lebanon. Ftuni had posted a short message on her Telegram channel a few hours earlier about an "enemy raid" seen near the towns of Bint Jubail and Kunin.
Roni Alpha, director of the Al-Mayadeen Middle East Information Bureau, called the deceased journalist Fatima Ftouni a heroine.
