Russians have increased the share of ruble deposits in banks, which reached a record 95% in February 2026. This follows from calculations by RIA Novosti on March 28 based on data from the Bank of Russia.

It is specified that this indicator increased by 0.2 percentage points, compared with January 2026. If compared with previous years, in February 2025, the share of ruble deposits was 94.2%, in 2024 — 91.2%, in 2023 — 89.1%, and in 2022 — 79.6%.

The Association of Russian Banks reported on February 2 that over the past seven years, only two investment instruments have been able to outpace inflation, which stood at 62.9% from 2019 to 2025. The most profitable asset was gold, which rose in price almost four times, as well as ruble-denominated bank deposits. The ARB noted that the high profitability of deposits was associated with a long period of tight monetary policy and a record key interest rate. Other popular assets, including real estate and stock indexes, showed returns at or below inflation.
