Airborne snipers destroyed heavy cargo UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kherson region

Sniper pairs of the rifle company of snipers of the Guards Kostroma Parachute Regiment of the Ivanovo Guards Airborne Troops (Airborne Forces) destroy heavy cargo unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on a daily basis The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) flying from the right bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region towards our forward positions. This was announced on March 28 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

Snipers are actively working at night, destroying enemy UAVs of various types, including heavy cargo copters R-18. The sniper pair moves to a point, chooses a convenient position and prepares to shoot. The paratroopers tracked the movements of the enemy heavy octocopter for a long time, calculated its flight schedule. Then it was decided to set up an ambush and destroy it.

After taking into account and comparing all the factors influencing sniper shooting, the second number gave target designation, and the first opened fire to kill. The first shot, from a distance of about 800 m, destroyed the enemy drone.

Further, the sniper pair quickly changed their firing position and continued to conduct targeted fire. Kostroma snipers of the "winged infantry" have been taking part in a special military operation (SVO) since the first day. They have hundreds of destroyed Ukrainian militants and enemy drones.

"The enemy uses them (UAVs. — Ed.) very often, that is, almost every day they arrive at the positions of our units. We also try to destroy them every day: we put pairs on more important objects, calculate the paths where he will fly today, for example, and where, and try to shoot him down," said the commander of the sniper platoon with the call sign Kot about the work on destroying enemy drones.

They confidently destroy Mavics, FPVS, and even large aircraft-type vehicles.

On March 26, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Hyacinth-S self-propelled artillery system (ACS) had destroyed hidden positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the forest belts in the special operation area in the Zaporizhia region with the help of a reconnaissance UAV. It was clarified that fire correction and monitoring of the results were carried out in real time using drones.
